Isle Of Wight

Two weeks ago my parents came down to visit Rob and I to celebrate my 22nd birthday.  We wanted to do something a bit different to normal, so we hopped on a Wightlink ferry to spend the day at the Isle of Wight.  The sun was shining and although we may have had a few too many drinks the night before, we were excited to spend the day somewhere different.

While we were on the ferry we enjoyed sitting outside soaking up the sun, watching the little sailing boats and drinking cups of tea.  Half an hour later we were there, and we headed straight to somewhere we haven't visited for at least fifteen years - The Needles.

We headed straight to the chairlift - we loved this last time we visited and couldn't resist a ride.  I'm so glad the weather was so good - even though it was really windy you could see for miles, it was really beautiful.

When we got back to the top we had a walk around, and ice cream and a visit to the sweet factory (their strawberries and cream sweets are delicious) before hopping back in the car.

We spent the rest of the day at Ventnor - a quaint little town with all sorts of cute trinket shops, cafes and restaurants.  We had plates piled high with barbecue food for lunch overlooking the sea and watching a school of canoes.

We headed back to the ferry at around four to catch a boat back to Portsmouth.  On the drive back we couldn't resist sticking out heads out of the windows to see the gorgeous thatched cottages, beautiful churches and pretty little ports as we drove past.

We all really enjoyed the day and cant wait to return in the future - where should we visit next time?
