St Tropez Self Tan Express Mousse Review

St Tropex Express Self Tan Fake Review Mousse

I don't know about you, but I just feel a bit more myself when I've got a bit of a tan.  I feel more confident, and I just prefer how it looks.  Obviously, at this time of year I'm not getting even a hint of natural colour, and I'm not one for sunbeds so I turn to the fake stuff.

I have tried an endless range of fake tans at all different prices, but I'm pretty sure I've found my favourite here: The St Tropez Self Tan Express.

This blue bottle of goodness doesn't come cheap - it's currently £33 in Boots, but I am more than happy to pay more to make sure I don't end up a streaky, orange mess.

The Self Tan Express is a bronzing mousse which allows you to tailor the depth of your colour to your preferences.  All you need to do is apply the tinted mouse with a mitt, and decide how deep you want your tan.  For a light colour, leave for one hour, for medium leave for two and if you want a deep shade of bronze leave for three hours before rinsing the guide colour off.  Leaving it on for 1-3 hours is fine; there is no greasy or sticky residue, within less than a minute my skin feels dry and I can put my clothes back on.

I did get a bit of a shock the first time I used this - I rinsed off after one hour to find I didn't look much different to before.  however, this tan continues to develop in colour even after being washed off, and by the time my hair and makeup were done I was a lovely natural bronze.  I always make sure to moisturise every day after tanning to make the colour last.  I've found I only need to reapply this every five or six days - I usually leave it a week - because the lasting power is pretty impressive.

I love that you don't need to leave this on over night - no stained sheets, no biscuity-smelling bed and no ugly pre-washed tan in the morning.  In fact, there isn't an unpleasant smell with this at all, especially after rinsing off the guide colour.

St Tropez recommend exfoliating the day before, but I have made a quick decision and popped this on without exfoliating and I still found the finish was streak-free and even.  I have yet to find a fault with this tan.  I've used it 6 or 7 times now, and I'm still in love with it!

  2. This sounds really good, I have the St Tropez gradual tanning mousse (the one im the white bottle) and I find I have to use it quite a few times bedore the colour builds up enough to be noticeable! Katie x

    1. I have the gradual one too, but I found the same problem, and I'm too impatient for that!
