Skincare for Oily Acne-Prone Skin

Skincare Products and Routine for Oily Acne Prone Skin Best Cleanser Toner Moisturiser Treatment Serum Face Mask

I have oily, acne-prone skin, and I'm forever searching for the right products to use on my face morning and evening.  At the moment my skin seems pretty happy and I'm finally happy with my little routine.  My aims are to make sure my skin is clean without being stripped, hydrated without increasing sebum production and I want to treat breakouts and fade acne scars without drying out my skin.

To clean my skin I stick to three products.  The L'Oreal Eye and Lip Makeup Remover is my number one for removing stubborn mascara.  A bit of the bi-phase solution on a cotton pad sweeps away any makeup with ease, but does leave a bit of an oily residue.  I use the Garnier Micellar Water to remove my face makeup and get rid of any residue from the eye makeup remover.  I use the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish morning and night to make sure my skin is squeaky clean.  I love this stuff - it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh but not tight or stripped, and it smells amazing.

Serozinc is the newest addition to my routine.  This spray-on toner reduces redness and generally freshens my skin ready for the next step.

In the mornings before makeup I pop on a pump of the Hydraluron Moisture Jelly.  It sinks into my skin really quickly and leaves a matte canvas to apply foundation to while still hydrating my skin.  In the evenings I pop the Liz Earle SuperSkin Concentrate oil on my face.  When I wake up my skin feels hydrated, plump and moisturised.  I swear by La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ to sort out any blemishes and scars.  This is by far my favourite skincare item.  I've used it for at least 3 years now and I can't see me stopping any time soon.

I usually use a face mask once a week.  I love clay/charcoal masks to draw out impurities, clear pores and leave my skin squeaky clean.  SuperFacialist is a lower priced clay mask which does a brilliant job at getting rid of any rubbish in/on your skin, but does tend to leave it feeling a bit dry afterwards - my skin drinks up the SuperSkin Concentrate after this.  My favourite of the two is the Origins Clear Improvement mask - there is a full review on the way, but it's brilliant.

What are your favourite skincare products?

    1. They're so brilliant, I've used Hydraluron in the past, but I'm loving the moisture jelly at the moment :)

  2. Awesome post! I have oily skin too, so I love reading blogs of people who have similar skin concerns. Sometimes it feels like all the bloggers have drier skins so are forever recommending heavier skincare and dewier bases. I love Cleanse and Polish, such a brilliant cleanser! I'm using Serozinc at the moment too. I'm not 100% convinced it does much though haha. Looking forward to your Origins review!

    1. I agree - there doesn't seem to be to many recommendations for oily skin. I really want Serozinc to be making a difference, but I don't think it is!
