A/W Travel Make-up Bag

Autumn Winter Travel Makeup Bag Beauty

Over the last three years I've spent a lot of time travelling across the country to either go home, or visit friends, family and my boyfriend in other universities.  Hopping on ta train every other weekend has resulting in my developing a bit of a skill in lightweight, quick packing.  In the summer, packing make-up is a little lighter, but during the colder months I tend to reach for a few more bits.  For me, the key is to take palettes and multi-function products to create a number of looks with a few products.

Face:
Estee Lauder double wear has been my go-to foundation for the last year or so.  I realise that a chunky glass bottle isn't ideal for travelling with, but it isn't particularly big and I've never had any issues with it.  I can apply with my fingers for a light finish or use my beloved Real Techniques Expert Face brush for a higher-coverage finish.  Lately I've been pairing this with Seventeen Phwoarr Paint which is marketed for concealling any under-eye circles, but I find it also works with blemishes.  The compact, sturdy packaging and built-in mirror make it perfect for travelling with.  I can't cope without my Seventeen Miracle Matte powder to banish shine throughout the day.  The compact is lightweight with another mirror, and it isn't too expensive, so if it was to shatter I wouldn't be too upset.  Lastly for my face, the NARS One Night Stand palette is perfect for travelling - a bronzer, highlighter and four blushers allow me to create a range of looks with this slim palette.

Eyes:
A primer is key for long-lasting eye make-up, and nothing comes close to the Urban Decay Primer Potion.  It's lightweight, small, and keeps my eye shadow and liner in place all day.  The Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is my favourite of the Naked palettes, and always joins me on my travels.  I can create a natural day-look or a more dramatic smokey eye with ease, and it also includes a perfect eyebrow shade; Faint.  The No 7 Extravagant Volume Mascara can be applied once or twice for a toned-down day look or layered to a fuller look without clumping.  Lastly, the L'oreal Gel Eye-liner is ideal for a slick across my lashes, a dramatic cat-eye flick or a line along my waterline.

Lips:
Blistex Medplus is applied every night before bed and every morning before lipstick - I can't leave home without it.  I always go for two lip options, and during the winter it's usually red or berry shades.  This year I've found myself reaching for Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush or MAC Ruby Woo.

These products easily fit into my Marks and Spencer Shimmery make-up bag with a couple of brushes and my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers.  What products do you take travelling with you?

  1. I love the Blistex Medex Plus! I have been considering buying the Naked basics palette for some time and usually take one of the Naked palettes with me when traveling. Would you recommend this one to have as well? You should try my primer diy :) , or I could even send you a little pot to see what you think!

    1. Isn't Medplus amazing! I'm glad it's such a bargain - I have an endless amount of pots! The Naked Basics palette is so worth it if you love matte shades; I actually reach for it more than my Naked or Naked2 palettes :) xx
