Evening Skincare Routine for Oily Acne-Prone Skin

Evening Skincare Routine for Oily Acne-Prone Skin Affordable High Street Simple La Roche Posay Blistex Duac
Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion, La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel, La Roche Posay Effaclar Micro Exfoliant, Duac Gel, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, Blistex Medplus, Blistex Intensive Moisturiser

I've developed a real love for skincare recently, I'm set on finding the perfect routine to keep my skin looking healthy and glowing.  For reference, I have oily skin with some acne scarring and relatively regular blemishes.  It is a lot better at the moment than it has been in years, and although I am now confident enough to occasionally venture out of the house with a lighter coverage foundation or BB cream, I'm not quite ready to go makeup-less.  These are the products I'm using in the evenings to look after my skin before bed.

I use the Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion on a daily basis with Tesco Cotton Wool Pads to remove the majority of my makeup, including eye makeup as I rarely wear waterproof mascara and this cleanser works perfectly on regular eye makeup.  I then cleanse my skin using the La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel with a warm flannel to make sure my skin is completely clean.

The next step is a pretty new addition to my routine; the Lotion Astringant Micro Exfoliant from La Roche Posay.  After hearing so much about amazing micro exfoliants such as Alpha H Liquid Gold and the one from Clarins, I just had to ive this one from my favourite skincare brand alone.  I haven't been using this long enough to properly review it yet, but I'm really enjoying using it.  It leaves my skin feeling completely clean, and I wake up to brighter skin each morning.

After this, I apply Duac Gel to any breakouts.  I was prescribed this to treat my regular breakouts, and it really does help heal blemishes quickly.  It leaves a bit of a residue on my skin, which is why I only use it at night.  I then apply La Roche Posay's Effeclar Duo to the rest of my skin.  I really love this product, it helps prevent breakouts and has seemed to make a difference to my acne scarring.  I definitely notice my skin take a turn for the worst every time I stop using this product.

Lastly, I keep my lips soft and smooth with a slather of lip balm.  I tend to reach for Blistex Medplus on a daily basis, but if my lips are particularly chapped or dry I bring in the big guns with Blistex Intensive Moisturiser.  Both get the job done and I wake up to plump, moisturised lips.
Do you have an evening skincare routine? What products do you use religiously?

  1. This post was SO helpful, Mel, it sounds like we have quite a similar skin type, so it was great reading about some of the products you've been loving - I've been dying to try out Lotion Astringant Micro Exfoliant, but wasn't 100%, think you've tempted me into ordering some, though! Effeclar Duo is a bit of a miracle worker, isn't it? Seriously cleared up my 'problem skin'! xx
