Annabel Pitcher: Ketchup Clouds

I enjoyed all of the John Green books, I read a few by Rainbow Rowell and then this popped up in my recommended reads.  Although it was different to my usual choices, it wasn't expensive so I gave it a shot.  Ketchup Clouds definitely wasn't what I expected, but I had to read to the end.

From the first page, I wondered about the ending of this story.  The plot follows Zoe, a 15 year old girl who has a secret - she's murdered someone.  She writes letters to a criminal on death row to tell the whole story, because he's the only person she can confess to.  Zoe tells her tale of love and betrayal through a stream of letters.  I won't ruin the ending for you, but I guessed what had happened pretty early on, and to tell you the truth the only reason I finished the book was to see if my hunch was right.  Pitcher wrote it from a fifteen year old girl's point of view, but for some reason it seemed to limit my interest rather than increase it.  I just wasn't motivated to keep turning the pages.  Hopefully the next book I try will be a bit more impressive!
