Although for the past two years or so I've been using liquid foundation, I am 100% a mineral powder girl. Before I entered the blogosphere, I used the L'Oreal True Match Mineral Powder foundation religiously (with the gross scratchy brush which I hardly ever washed. ew). You may have seen in my review of the Bare Minerals Matte foundation that I wanted something with a bit more coverage bit with a similar finish - well, I think I've found it.
The Laura Mercier Mineral Powder is a finely milled loose powder which I apply over primer and concealer using a Sephora Mineral Powder brush or my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to cover any imperfections and even out my skin tone without looking cakey or mask-like. It lets some features of my skin show through - my summer freckles are visible which I love, and if I naturally blush it's visible which I feel is a much more natural look. It's easy to layer without looking cakey, or wear as a sheerer wash of coverage if you prefer. It feels really light on the skin and doesn't seem to melt off my face in humid weather like some other bases. Even my Mum is loving this - she much prefers the soft focus finish this leaves to a liquid foundation (she applies hers with a Real Techiques retractable buffing brush). As I have super oily skin I still set this with a mattifying powder, but I don't find that it's shiny any sooner than any other foundation I use.
This foundation has ticked every single box for me, and I've called off the foundation hunt for now - I love it! I will definitely be checking out more Laura Mercier products next, I've got my eye on their Secret Camouflage concealer!
Ooh, this sounds amazing! I've been looking into mineral foundations for a while but they're just all so expensive - might try this out when I get paid though, I'm pretty sure I can find a way to justify it, seeing as you're so in love with it ha xx
