Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm

As an oily-skinned girl I can't help shying away from cream blusher/bronzer/highlighter.  Something about it makes me think my cheeks will end up as a greasy shiny mess.  A long time ago I gave the Topshop cream-to-powder blushers a shot, but that's where my creamy cheek experiences end until now.  I had a couple of pounds in Boots Advantage Card points to spend, and a lot of positive reviews of these twist-up blushers on my Bloglovin, so I bit the bullet.

With summer around the corner and my love for peachy corals, how could I not choose this shade? Robust Rhubarb is a pinky peach with no shimmer/glitter.  I love the pigmentation of these - it isn't particularly high so you don't end up looking like a five year old who's been playing with mummy's make up, but it's so easy to build up to a more intense pop of colour.

The twist-up pencil type packaging gives you a few application options - dab straight onto your cheeks and blend with your fingers or a stippling brush, use your fingers to transfer from the bullet to your cheeks and blend or use a brush from the get go.  I've tried all techniques, but I tend to use my Real Techniques stippling brush to take the colour straight from the bullet to my cheeks and use the same blusher to blend.  If I go a bit overboard, I just take my foundation brush and buff around the edges to blend it out a bit.

The colour is pretty sheer and not too in-your-face; it's perfect for adding a natural healthy flush.  In the picture I only have this product on (no bronzer/highlighter/powder) to show the true finish and shade on my skin, although I would usually wear it with a bit of bronzer to warm up my face and powder to set it on my oily skin.

I never expected to love this, but I really do.  It's a gorgeous shade, formula and finish.  I especially adore the twist-up packaging which makes it perfect for easy application and travelling.  I love how it sits on my oily skin, and the colour lasts pretty well when it's set with powder, but I do that religiously anyway.  Full price it's £19, but it felt like a freebie thanks to my Boots points.  Now I've got my eye on the Bronzer and Highlighter Chubby Sticks!
