Summer Lips and Cheeks

When it comes to beauty looks, summer is my favourite.  I am a sucker for anything peachy or coral, I love a pop of colour and I can't get enough of the lightweight, healthy, slightly tanned glow.  These are my favourite bits for lips and cheeks when the weather is warmer, and they'll be my go-to options when it comes to holiday packing.

On my cheeks I've got four go-to shades.  The Laura Mercier second skin cheek colour in lush nectarine might well be my all-time favourite blusher. Ever.  It is a beautiful little compact of shimmery coral goodness which applies like an absolute dream.  I'm desperate to try a few other shades in this formula because it's a beauty.  The MAC mineralize skin finish in stereo rose is a pretty similar shade on the skin, but with more shimmer and less pigment.  I love how beautiful this looks in the pan, and the huge compact means I'm pretty sure it will last forever.  The Illamasqua powder blush in tremble is a shade I wear all year round, but it's best suited to spring/summer.  The pinkest of the bunch but this matte shade adds a subtle healthy flush to the apples of my cheeks with one sweep.  Lastly - something a bit different.  I have fallen head over heels for the Clinique chubby stick cheek colour in robust rhubarb.  The creamy stick lets me swipe on the colour and blend with ease leaving the nicest sheer colour - I can't get enough of it!

When it comes to lips I have a few more peachy coral options.  My favourite has to be the YSL rouge voloupte in peach passion, possibly because of the beautiful packaging.  It's a beautiful creamy pale peach that seems to just ooze luxury.  The Urban Decay revolution lipstick in streak is much brighter and pinker, but it's such a comfortable and pigmented formula which I always find myself coming back to.  How could I post about lipsticks without popping a few MAC choices in here? MAC Coral Bliss was my number 1 go-to last summer, I wore this light coral every day without fail.  I have yet to find a make up look it doesn't go well with; such a great all-rounder.  MAC Cut a Caper is one of my newer summer shades, but I've wanted it for the longest time.  It was limited edition so pretty tricky to get my hands on, but I finally found it in a blog sale and I'm so glad I bit the bullet.  It's a lustre formula so it's a sheer wash of peachy colour which is so easy and comfortable to wear.  On the high street side of things I'm loving the twist-up sticks - the popular Bourjois colour boost crayon in peach on the beach is a gorgeous bright peach which looks best patted onto the lips and the Revlon matte balm in audacious is the brightest of the bunch adding a matte pop of colour which looks perfect with a tan.

What are your summer lip and cheek picks?

  1. Love them Mac lippies, adding them to my wish list. Illamasqua blusher is fab, I have Naked Rose and it's my absolute favourite.
