Azzuro Italian Restaurant
A few weeks ago Rob and I fancied a spontaneous date night, and we were craving some Italian food so we headed down to Gunwharf Quays to go to Azzuro.
Although the food is delicious (I'll get on to that), my favourite thing about this restaurant is the view of the harbour. In the day time you can look over the River Solent at the passing boats, and when it's dark the lights illuminate the bobbing boats.
We've visited the restaurant a few times now, and every time it's been brilliant. I love the super comfortable chairs, the brilliant service and the relaxed atmosphere. There are all sorts of people coming and going, and it feels upmarket without being overly expensive.
After a few glasses of wine, we ordered food. Rob went for the HUGE calzone which was packed full of tomatoey meaty goodness (I couldn't resist stealing a forkfull or two) and I had my usual favourite. Their crab and prawn ravioli in tomato sauce is to die for - by far my favourite thing on the menu!
As usual, we really enjoyed our visit, and left feeling relaxed and full. We're already planning our next visit when Rob's parents come to visit in a few weeks!
