Yesterday was my Mum's birthday! As we already have a meal out booked and she spent the last few days in a luxurious spa hotel with my Dad, my sister and I decided to surprise her with a home made afternoon tea for when she got home from her mini-break. After a browse on Pinterest (see my Afternoon Tea Pinterest board here), we picked out the bits we liked the most and gave them a shot.

Birthday Afternoon Tea

Caseapp Custom iPhone Case
One of my favourite things about owning an iPhone is the huge range of cases available to choose from. I love having a little collection to choose from so I can swap and change them whenever I fancy. I had been on the look out for a floral case with wild flowers on for a while, but hadn't found anything I was in love with when Caseapp contacted me. I had heard about Caseapp in the past, but I had never made my own case before. I jumped at the chance to create my perfect phone case.

The Tenth Hole Tea Rooms, Southsea
When it feels like we're finally coming to the end of a month of particularly horrible weather, as soon as the sun shines through the clouds I can't wait to get outside and make the most of it. A few weeks ago, there were blue skies in Portsmouth so Rob and I headed straight for Southsea beach for a stroll. By a complete coincidence, ten minutes later we were outside The Tenth Hole. This adorable cafe claims to be the best tea rooms in Southsea, and I'm definitely not going to argue with that claim.

The Liberty Colouring Book
At the moment, adult colouring books seem to be everywhere I look. There are patterns, animals, landscapes, quotes, swear words and films to spend hours colouring in. Two years ago, if you'd told me I'd be spending my evenings under a blanket, watching a good film while colouring in I'd never have believed you, but now more often than not that's where you'll find me.

Roy Grace Books
Over the Christmas period us teachers are lucky enough to have two weeks away from the classroom, and although I have quite a bit of work to do, I've been spending lots of time catching up with friends and family, eating too much and relaxing. For as long as I can remember, I've been a bit of a bookworm. Even since I was small, I've loved getting lost in a fictional world. Over the last year or so, I've been a sucker for crime/thriller video, and recently I think I've found my favourite series yet.

What I Got For Christmas 2015
After seeing endless tweets about 'what I got for Christmas' posts and enjoying the few I have read so far, I thought I'd write another one of my own (if you fancy a peek at last year's post click here). Obviously, I'm not posting this to brag, and I've just chosen to share a few of my gorgeous gifts, as some of them are more personal and I'd rather keep to myself.

Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market
Two weeks ago, my parents came down to visit Rob and I in Portsmouth for the weekend and to start getting into the Christmas spirit. What better way is there to start feeling festive than spending Sunday wandering around a Christmas market?! We jumped in the car and headed to Winchester cathedral for the day.

Christmas Wishlist
With Christmas only a few weeks away, I can help but keep adding things to my seemingly endless wishlist, especially with everyone else's wishlists popping up all over my Bloglovin' feed. This year, this is what I'm hoping to find under my tree!

Things to do on a Sunday
Working full time means you start to really appreciate every second of the weekends. I like to fit in a mixture of getting out and about and lazing around in my flat.

Azzuro Italian Restaurant
A few weeks ago Rob and I fancied a spontaneous date night, and we were craving some Italian food so we headed down to Gunwharf Quays to go to Azzuro.

A Perfect Night In
After a long week of work there's nothing I want more than a relaxing pamper night to de-stress and re-charge. These are my top tips for a perfect night in.

Gin and Olive Bar and Restaurant
Six months ago a cute new bar and restaurant opened on our road, and last weekend Rob and I finally got around to popping in to the Gin and Olive (website). Although we only had a few drinks, they serve food here too (and by looking at the menu, it sounds pretty good). It's completely different to anywhere else I've visited in Southsea, but I loved it.

Tips for a Better Night's Sleep
When my alarm is set for early in the morning to get me up for work, I can't help wanting to make the most of every second my eyes are shut. I can't stand those nights where I'm left tossing and turning until the early hours of the morning, so I've found a few tips and tricks to make sure I get a good night's sleep.

Abergavenny Food Festival
A few weeks ago, Rob and I jumped in the car after work on Friday and headed home for a weekend with our families. After a TV and chinese night at my parents' on Friday night and a loooong lay-in on Saturday morning, my family and I headed to Abergavenny to wander around the stalls in the food festival.

Getting Organised
Since returning to work at the start of September after six weeks off for the summer holidays, I've had to get myself organised again to keep on top of work, blogging and general life admin.

Loch Fyne
I'm keeping this one short and sweet - I love this place.
Loch Fyne is a Seafood and Grill restaurant in Gunwarf Quays. I've been there twice now, and they have yet to disappoint.

Langland Brasserie
At the end of August my sister was celebrating her 20th birthday so we headed to a brilliant little brasserie right by the sea for some delicious food. The view from the restaurant is perfect; you can see right along Langland bay. Unfortunately it was tipping down while we were there, so it wasn't the beautiful picturesque sea view they had for most of the summer, but there's something about being right by the beach that puts a smile on ym face come rain or shine.

Stationery Wishlist
A few weeks ago I took part in one of the #lbloggers chats on twitter; the topic was organisation and by the end of the hour I wanted so much stationery. I basically spent the rest of the night scrolling through endless pages of notebooks, diarys, post-it notes and pens looking for cute stationery - here are my favourite finds.
