Books I Never Stopped Thinking About

Books I Never Stopped Thinking About Kindle Flat Lay

Sometimes, I finish a book but find myself still thinking about it weeks, months, even years afterwards.  They aren't always the best stories, or the most well-written, but they always have something about them - maybe a character, a plot twist or even just a few words - which stay with me,

Framed - Frank Cottrell Boyce
Firstly, yes I know this is a children's book. As a child I was such a book worm, so I have literally read hundreds of children's books, but this is the one which I always find myself thinking about.  I didn't technically read it, because I remember going on a family holiday and we listened to it as an audiobook.  The story follows a welsh boy who notices an unusually large amount of lorries visiting his family's petrol station, so he investigates why they're there.  I remember being entralled by the story, and I have just never forgotten it!

Harry Potter - JK Rowling
The most cliche answer ever, I know.  Every single time a new Harry Potter book was released while I was growing up, my Grandmother would buy it, read it, then pass it on to my sister and I with a little message written on the inside cover.  I have read the series at least 10 times now, and I still adore it.  I'm the saddo who reads the BuzzFeed 'Things You Didn't Know About Harry Potter' articles until stupid o'clock in the morning.

Wonder - RJ Palacio
Without a doubt the most touching book I've ever read.  Entirely written from Auggie's point of view; a young boy with a facial deformity who is going to a main stream school for the first time.  Beautifully written, and it made me laugh and cry - my mum's criteria for a good book.

We Were Liars - E Lockhart
Written from the point of view of a teenager who's returned to a summer home after an accident that she cant remember, this book has you asking questions all the way though.  It isn't my usual crime-filled choice, but I just found myself thinking about it for months and months after reading the last page.

Nineteen Minutes - Jodi Picoult
I have read so many incredible books by this author, but this one has always stayed in my mind.  This book tells the story of a boy who goes to school one morning, and shoots ten people.  While seeking justice, the judge's daughter is the best witness, but she can't remember what she saw.

Beautiful - Katie Piper
I don't really read many non-fictional books, but as soon as Katie Piper released this book, I was dying to read it.  I sobbed my heart out more times than I can count while flicking through the pages, and now Katie has become a true role model for me.

The Confession - John Grisham
When I was around 16, I'd lost interest in young adult books and was looking for something with a bit more substance, so I asked my parents what they read.  I enjoyed a few easy chick-flick reads on my mum's recommendation, and I still occasionally read chick lit, but I wanted something  that I couldn't put down.  My dad was really into John Grisham at the time, so he gave me one he had read previously: The Confession.  It's the story of an innocent man facing the death penalty for a crime he didn't commit while the true criminal watches and waits.  After a very long silence, he finally confesses, but it might be too late.  Since finishing it, I've thought about the plot over and over again.  This book was the beginning of my love for crime/thrillers, and over five years later I'm still loving them!

What books can't you forget about?  I'm always looking for reading recommendations!

  1. The only one on this list that I've read is HP - definitely need to take the rest as recommendations! My three favourite books are Fight Club, The Catcher in the Rye, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (and Harry Potter of course!) so if you haven't read those I really recommend them!

I remember when the last book came out, I'd preordered it and me and my dad went down to Waterstones to pick it up and I almost cried hahaha xxx
