Benefit Mascara Battle: They're Real vs RollerLash

Benefit Mascara Battle: They're Real vs RollerLash Beauty Makeup Packaging

When I am looking for a new mascara, I find it pretty hard to decide - there are thousands of options on the market, each claiming to do very similar things.  How do I know which ones will make my lashes look long, black and fluttery without ending up comparable to spiders legs? How do I know which ones will flake down my face half way through the day and which will be impossible to remove at the end of the day?  Reading some reviews helped me realise that Benefit know what they're doing when it comes to mascara, but which of their options to I choose?  I received a sample of Rollerlash in a magazine last year, loved it, and kept re-purchasing over and over again.  But until now, I didn't know how it compared to one of the brand's most popular products; They're Real.

Kiss Cosmetics Volumetric Lust Mascara

The KISS Volumetric Lust* is a new mascara which will be available to buy for £9.00 from their website (here) on 11th of June.  It is advertised as a 'lightweight lengthening and volumising mascara' which gives a 'dramatic wide eyed look'.  The Kiss Cosmetics team kindly sent it to me to have a play about with before the release date.

Benefit Roller Lash

Roller Lash is the new super curling and lifting mascara from the beauties at Benefit (£19.50).  It uses a Hook 'n' Roll brush to grab, separate, lift and curl lashes and the curve-setting formula is said to hold a curl for 12 hours.  I have the mini sample from Elle magazine, but does it compare to my beloved YSL Babydoll?

Beauty Review: L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara

I am a big fan of L'oreal mascaras - I love Million Lashes and the Telescopic mascara, so when I spotted a L'oreal mascara called Voluminous I had very high hopes.  Unfortunately, it was a bit of a waste of money.

Initially, I was impressed - added volume, length, very black colour and holding a curl.  After a few hours I had a look in the mirror and it was everywhere.  This mascara transferred more than anything I've ever used.  After only a few hours it was all over my lids, all below my eyes and generally looked terrible.  I thought maybe it was a one-off and tried again but the exact same happened.  I've now tried everything - primers, powders, setting sprays, everything.  Nothing worked! This one's going straight in the bin!

YSL Babydoll Mascara

YSL Babydoll Mascara review High End Beauty Makeup

I've been spoilt again! After a very unattractive case of conjunctivitis (#teacherproblems) I had to throw out my slightly excessive collection of mascaras.  As a little treat for passing my final university teaching placement my sweetheart of a boyfriend treated me to this little beauty, and it's quickly shot to holy grail status!

Top Five Eye Products of 2013

Top Five Eye Products of 2013 L'Oreal Urban Decay Maybelline

Next up is my top five make-up products for my peepers.  I finally got around to purchasing a full size Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I'm so happy that I did.  With my oily skin, shadows are forever creasing on my lids after just a few hours, and this primer is the only thing I've found to keep everything in place.  I use the smallest amount on each lid, but it makes such a huge difference that I never apply eye shadow without it now.  Read a bit more about it in my post, here.
