MAC Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone Primer Treatment Oily Skin Matte

As you probably know by now, I have seriously oily skin and am forever looking for products to prolong the life of my base before the shine gets the better of it.  After a good few hours snooping around the internet I came across a fair few reviews on this little tube, and for £16 I had to give it a go.
This oil-free product is dispensed from a thin nozzle which makes it super easy to control how much you use.  It's a white liquid/gel and you only need the tiniest bit of it - a little goes a long long way.  The most important thing with this is to rub it is fast, it dries very quickly so it's definitely not something to dab over your face and go back to rub it in.  Once applied it literally dries in seconds to a completely invisible matte finish which my foundation really sticks to, it does a brilliant job of keeping my base in place for a long time.  I love how undetectable it is on my skin - I can't feel it at all!

This is without a doubt the best oil-control product I've ever used and helps my foundation stay shine-free longer than anything else, but not as long as I'd like.  I much prefer it over my Smashbox Photofinish primer and Maybelline Baby face which are every siliconey, and I think for someone with oily skin it would be perfect.  My super greasy face even defeats this, will I find anything to keep me shine-free? I'm thinking Illamasqua Matte Veil next? What do you think?

  1. I know how you feel. I have large pores and find make up doesn't last as long on my skin, though having dry skin lots of products for large pores are also for oily skin and dry mine out further. Casey // Atopsyturvyblog.blogspot.com xx

    1. Aw what a nightmare - maybe silicone based primers would smooth over your pores without drying your skin out? x
