Red Lips

Red Lipsticks Beauty
MAC Ruby Woo, Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in Romantic and Crush, Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar

Autumn/winter is the time when corals and peaches are pushed to the back or my drawer, and out come the red and berry toned lip products.  They're much more seasonal shades, perfect for the holiday and party season and don't drain my paler skin.  This winter I'll be reaching for my five favourite red shades and plenty of lip balm to avoid dry, chapped smackers.

MAC Ruby Woo is my all-time favourite red.  A much-loved present from my boyfriend last winter, it's what I reach for when I was a bold, statement, matte lip that's long lasting.  Although I don't reach for this on a day-to-day basis, it's perfect for long days or nights out because it doesn't need to be reapplied.  I've been waiting all summer to get this beauty back out, so I can see it getting a lot of wear over the next few months.  The Revlon Lip Butter is the complete opposite - Wild Watermelon is perfect for every day wear.  It's a much sheerer red which it really easy to apply and wear, although it can be built up to a more opaque colour.  I tend to reach for this if my lips are feeling dry, or I'm slicking on a quick splash of colour as I'm heading out the door.

I absolutely adore the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.  Romantic is a sheer blood red which leaves a lovely bitten effect on the lips when the balm fades.  Crush is much more berry toned, making it absolutely perfect for this time of year - I love to wear it with knee-high boots and a thick knit scarf.  The balm stains aren't at all drying on my lips and are really long lasting, making them my ideal choice for a day at university when I just don't want to be topping up my lip colour between lectures.

Lastly, the Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar is a corally-red, which was perfect for the transition from summer to autumn.  I'm not sure I'll use this so much through December and January, but when spring it on its way I can see this being a firm favourite in my make-up bag.

Although I'm quite pleased with my little collection, I'm still lusting after MAC Rebel - I'll put it on my christmas list! What shades are you wearing on your lips this season?

  1. I love Revlon's lip lines, they're all very consistent and good quality products! Great choices! I've been wanting to try MAC's Ruby Woo for years now but I always feel like red doesn't go well with my lips (sort of makes them too thin, if that makes any sense?), but it's definitely one of the best reds out there!
