Benefit The POREfessional Matte Rescue Primer

Benefit the POREfessional Matte Rescue Primer Oily Skin Miniature Free Samples Review

As an oily-skinned girl, foundation doesn't last three hours on my skin without the help of a good primer.  When I reached the end of my Illamasqua Matte Veil a few weeks ago, I fancied trying something new as a replacement.  The Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue primer seemed to be everywhere to looked, and I was reading amazing things about it's power to keep oil at bay, keep makeup in place and prolong wear so I made an order.

After a bit of a delivery nightmare (no thanks to the Royal Mail there), I ended up having to sort my order out with the Benecares team, who were brilliant. Jane sorted out my lost parcel and had another one sent to me by special delivery that day.  Some of the best customer service I've recieved!

I know quite a lot of people aren't keen on Benefit packaging, but I love it.  It's bright, cute and unique making it stand out from the rest of my collection.  After using Illamasqua Matte Veil for so long, I am so happy to be using a product in a tube - it's so much more hygienic than a pot and it's really easy to control how much is dispensed.

I was a bit taken by surprise by the colour and consistency of the primer.  I was expecting a thicker product considering the silicony texture of the original porefessional, but this is a thin watery gel, and it's blue.  Obviously the colour doesn't transfer on to the skin.  As soon as you apply it it dries quickly and is hardly detectable on the skin.

I really like this primer - it's easy to apply, makes my makeup appear smooth and makes everything last a bit longer.  Shine is kept at bay for longer and even when the oil creeps through, I don't seem to get as oily.  This isn't an amazing wonder product which banishes every aspect of oily skin, but it's really effective, affordable, and the packaging is cute!

With my order, I got sent some really cute samples - I'd never tried any of the Benefit tints, so I was so happy to see this tiny Lollitint and I've only tried this as a lip stain so far, but it's a really nice cool toned pink.  I also received They're Real which I've been comparing to another of their mascara options - Rollerlash.  Post on the way!

  2. I love Benefit mascaras. My beauty-junkie cousin and I were just discussing their mascaras the day before.
I really like this packaging. Maybe it's because I love all things funky and colorful. But it's super cool anyways.

  3. I really want to try this! I've been using the original Porefessional for ages but just found out it's probably the reason my skin has become so dry. I daresay this one will do the same but I still want to try haha

  4. This looks great! I'm an oily skin girl too and struggle so much to keep my makeup in place, it's always half way down my face by mid morning. I didn't like the texture of the original porefessional but I like the sound of a gel like formula. I've been loving Laura Mercier primer too which is also a gel formula and great for oily skin xxx

    1. Ugh I know what you mean #oilyskinproblems! The texture of this is completely different to the original - I much prefer this. Ooh I'll keep my eye out for that, thank you!

  6. I love the packaging of Benefit's products too! A great review, it sounds like a great primer if it keeps the shine and oil reduced. Have you tried L'oreal's infallible primer? It's incredible! xxx

  7. I love Benefit packaging as well! It instantly puts me in a good mood :) Great to hear you love this product too! My favourite primer is Laura Mercier the oil free version, definitely recommend getting a sample and seeing how you get on with it.

  8. I'm constantly on the lookout for something to keep oil at bay too! I literally have to blot my face maybe, three times a day, otherwise I end up so oily and gross - might have to give this a try as I love benefit!
