Born Pretty Store Make Up

As a beauty lover, I am always looking for high-quality make up without paying extortionate prices.  When Born Pretty Store (here) contacted me to try out some of their products, how could I turn them down?!


I was given the opportunity to choose a few products to try out, so I headed straight to their website.  I did find the website a little bit hard to navigate and very busy, it takes a bit of time to get your head around.  I eventually chose to try an eyeliner/shadow, a lip liner and a long lasting lipgloss.

The first thing I opened was the eye shadow/liner (link here).  I had ordered a bronze shade and expected a twist-up crayon style shadow stick.  Unfortunately, I didn't get anything close - compare these photos to the inage on the website, they look nothing alike.  This product is basically a dark brown felt-pen-style, which in my opinion could never be used as an eye shadow.  I could accept it if the liner was any good, but it's a bit of a let down.  The colour is completely mis-advertised, it's a dark brown shade with no shimmer (swatch at end of post).  As soon as you apply it, it feathers so much.  I don't even know how well it wears because I couldn't leave it on my eyes for a full day - it looks that bad!

Luckily, after the eye liner the package improved.  This nude lip liner in shade 7 (here) is gorgeous.  It's a browny nude shade perfect for pairing with pretty much any neutral lipstick of gloss.  The formula is waxy enough to stick around but not uncomfortable to wear.  Admittedly the packaging isn't great but for such a low price, this is brilliant.

The last product was this long-lasting matte lip gloss (here).  Although the name is a little deceiving (matte lip gloss?), this is a matte liquid lipstick with a doe-foot applicator.  This is definitely my favourite product of the three.  The formula is pretty similar to the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets and it's really comfortable to wear.  It's a gorgeous deep red shade, which isn't patchy and doesn't feather.  It's a perfect product for Autumn/Winter, I know I'll get lots of wear out of it over the next few months.
