Rob and I have been spending our evenings snuggled up under a blanket watching films lately, and we've watched a few good'uns that we've both enjoyed.
Chef
Since moving out of our parents' houses, we have really enjoyed experimenting with new recipes, watching foody videos and searching on the internet for something different to try. As soon as we saw the advert for Chef we both fancied it, but we didn't watch it until recently. It's such a feel-good film, and it's really enjoyable to watch. The story line follows a restaurant chef leave his day-to-day job to run his own high-quality food van bringing the people closest to him along for the ride. It isn't too heavy so it's perfect for an easy evening watch.
Before I Go To Sleep
We are both suckers for a good thriller, and we were sucked right into this twisted story. It follows a lady who wakes up every day with no memories, so she relies on her husband to break the news of her accident to her every morning and has to catch up on her entire life every single day. With the help of a psychologist, as she begins to find out more and more about her life she sees some cracks in her husband's personality and begins to unravel the truth. If you like a thriller I definitely recommend this. Its clear from the beginning that something's wrong, but there were a lot of twists that kept you guessing.
If I Stay
I read If I Stay by Gayle Forman, and really enjoyed reading it, so I thought the film was worth a shot. I love a film that can make you laugh and cry, and this film did both. It wasn't quite as good as the book, but does the film ever live up to the pictures you build in your head while you read? Mia's wonderful life changes in an instant when her and her family are in a car crash. She has an out-of-body experience where she must choose her future, which isn't an easy decision.
American Sniper
A true story about a US Navy Seal's journey to becoming one of the most lethal snipers in American history. Despite the danger he puts himself in, and his family waiting for him back at home, he still heads to Iraq over and over again to protect his country. However, when he finally returns home, he struggles to leave thoughts of the war behind. The pair of us both really enjoyed this, it's such an interesting story with a bit of an unexpected ending.
All four of these films are really enjoyable, although completely different to one another. I'd recommend all four of them, they're great! What films have you enjoyed watching lately? We'd love your recommendations :)
