The Still & West

Every time my family pop down to Portsmouth for a visit, we end up trying a new restaurant out.  There are so many places to try in Southsea, and a few weeks ago we gave The Still and West in Spicer Island a go.  Rob and I had visited before for a few drinks in the sun but this was the first time for food.

We reserved a table online easily and when we turned up a bit early they were happy to seat us straight away.  We were taken upstairs to the restaurant part of the pub, where we were seated right next to the window in a conservatory - the views are absolutely beautiful (especially on a sunny day) and we couldn't help watching the boats and ships sailing past the window.

The menu was relatively short which I actually prefer to an endless list of options, and there was a specials board showing mostly seafood options.  I went for the baked crab option from the specials board and wasn't disappointed.

Every bite of food was absolutely delicious, and between the six of us we ordered quite a lot of different bits and pieces - fork-fulls of seafood, steak, chicken and pie were passed back and forth for each other to try.  Although the deserts sounded delicious, none of us could fit one in after our food (possibly because of the Tenth Hole visit earlier in the day).

While we sat chatting and eating there was such a range of boats passing the window - little sailing boats, huge ferries and beautiful ships like the one in the picture.  We loved every second of our visit and will definitely be returning!
