Earlier this week I posted about holiday Marbella, but I've got a tonne more photos to share of our delicious food and our little day trip to Puerto Banus.
On our first night in Marbella, we headed straight to the beach front when the sun started to set, and made a decision on food within about 20 seconds - when in Spain how could we not go for a Paella? We shared a seafood and chicken paella and watched the gorgeous sunset.
One of the other nights near the start of the holiday I had a cocktail craving, so headed straight for a beach cafe for Sex on the Beach and some incredible beef skewers. Our entertainment that night? Someone having an impromptu yoga-inspired photo shoot on the beach using a smart phone. For an entire hour.
Next stop: Italian. After noticing a particular restaurant full to the brim a few nights in a row we couldn't resist giving it a go. I had the most delicious lobster ravioli; it was so good we ended up returning a few nights later. We might have been swayed by the delicious deserts too - the creme brulee and tiramisu were to die for!
We happened to be in Marbella while La Vuelta 2015 was on - it was so brilliant to see all the bikes speeding past and all the supporters cheering and shouting. There was such a great atmosphere and everyone seemed so happy and excited! When the race was over, the entire beachfront was packed with people, so we chose our restaurant by looking for a free table, but we ended up having some pretty delicious seafood. and then satisfied our sweet teeth with some ice cream sundaes which tasted even better than they look!
Towards the end of the week we treated ourselves to a more expensive restaurant on the beach which was worth every single penny - everything was incredible, especially the amazing cocktails! We shared a black seafood paella which was too difficult to photograph in the fading light, but it was our favourite meal of the week!
Our favourite treat of the week was the crepes, we had them twice from different places, but they were always delicious!
On our last night we popped to the restaurant just downstairs from our hotel. We shared a huge jug of Sex on the beach in the sunshine, and enjoyed some incredible food. I loved every bite of my fillet steak, and Rob couldn't resist a BBQ pizza. It was such a bittersweet last night, we definitely could have stayed longer to try more delicious food.
If you're thinking of heading to Marbella, I definitely recommend a package which allows you to explore the different food from a range of restaurants - in the past Rob and I ave always gone on all-inclusive holidays, and we're so happy we went for self catering for a change. We kept breakfast and lunch pretty simple by going to the local supermarket most days, and although it wasn't cheap, it didn't break the bank!
Half way through the week we decided to go for a walk along the coast. Admittedly it took us hours but we ended up at Puerto Banus. It was such a gorgeous town filled with quaint side streets with painted white buildings, impressive cars, expensive shops and beautiful boats floating in the marina. Most of the bars and restaurants we jam-packed, so we ended up grabbing a few slices of takeaway pizza to keep us going which was delicious, move over dominos! We had a brilliant time walking around the side streets and exploring all of the nooks and crannies, it's well worth a visit in our opinion.
We had an absolutely brilliant holiday, we loved every second of our time in Marbella and would love to return one day in the future. It seems like a brilliant holiday location for everyone; families, couples or a group girly get away would enjoy everything Marbella has to offer!
Keep an eye out for a Sephora haul post in the next few days.
