I'm a bit of a self-confessed contour newbie, but I love the idea of making my balloon head look like I have some sort of bone structure. For months I used Benefit Hoola (which I still love) to put a bit of a shadow in the hollows of my cheeks and on my temples, but when I finally finished it I made a quick Cult Beauty purchase of the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit in light/medium (link here).
This palette has six powders - three sculpting and three highlighting. The sculpting shades are natural and grey-toned without being muddy, making the shadows you apply as believable or exaggerated as you choose. Although the powders are well-pigmented, they blend really easily so it you're a bit heavy-handed, a buffing brush will quickly sheer out the colour.
There is a pink toned, yellow toned and shimmering highlight shade included. The pink-toned one is usually used to powder my face when I'm feeling to lazy to search for my MSF to soak up oil as it isn't too far from my skin tone. The yellow-toned powder is perfect for setting under-eye concealer and brightening the area. Lastly, the shimmery shade - this one is the most disappointing, because the shimmer is so subtle it's hardly noticeable. I prefer something with a bit more oomph, but this isn't bad swept over a matte blusher to add a hint of glow.
The palette itself is very slim and professional-looking. You can now purchase refills of the pans, as you're bound to run out of your favourite first! The only thing I wish it did have is a mirror - the palette is pretty large, a mirror would be very helpful when travelling or re-applying on the go.
This is the only contour palette I've ever used, but I'm impressed - buttery smooth powders, a range of shades and an all-round beauty of a palette. Thank you, ABH!
I have this kit and at first I didn’t get much use out of it, but have now got the hang of it!

I adore this kit at first I was terrified of it but I've gradually got the hang of how to best use it. I do agree that it needs a mirror, I always open it expecting to see one!
