MAC Lipstick Collection

Being in a shop that stocks MAC is like being in a sweet shop.  It's pretty hard to make any kind of decision, but I'm usually drawn to the lipstick stand - even if I don't buy one I end up with a hand covered in swatches.  I bought my first MAC lipstick in 2011, and now I have a little collection of 9 lipsticks that I'm very happy with.

I've got a mixture of shades and finishes, some are reached for more than others but their common factor is the lovely vanilla scent that I just can't get enough of!  Lets start with the peachy corals.

Costa Chic is marketed as a frosty light coral.  I'd say it's more bright than light, and the frost is definitely noticeable - it highlights every imperfection so your lips need a lip of prepping, and it doesn't wear particularly evenly but I still love it.  It's a gorgeous summer shade, and this always ends up coming on holiday with me.

Coral Bliss is my go-to summer lipstick.  MAC describe it as a frosted light coral, but this doesn't apply frosty at all.  The cremesheen finish is comfortable to wear and really well-pigmented.  Perfect for day-to-day wear when the sun is shining!

Nudes next - I haven't been into nude lips for long, so these have both been purchased in the last year or so, but I've got a lot of wear out of them.

Blankety is a soft pink-beige, and an amplified finish.  It's by far the most pigmented and creamy on the lips.  It is a little grey-ish on my skin tone so I have to be careful when I wear it and pair it with a pinky nude liner or gloss to make it more wearable, but when I'm looking for something to pair with a smokey eye it's perfect!

Giddy is a lovely every-day shade.  It's a muted warm pink with a soft, gold shimmer which is virtually undetectable on the lips.  The bullet says it's a lustre finish, but it seems to apply more opaque and less glossy than other lustres.  Very easy to wear, always found in the bottom of my handbag.

Viva Glam Nicki is the least wearable of the lot - an almost fluorescent yellow-toned pink which accentuates every dry patch and makes my teeth look yellow.  I find I can wear it sheerly dabbed on with a gloss over the top to add a hint of colour, but opaque it definitely isn't for me.

Chatterbox is described as a bright red-pink, but I think it's quite muted for a bright, and it definitely is quite far from red.  Easy to pair with most make-up looks and perks up to skin tone on a tired day.

Impassioned is an absolute beauty.  This is a bright.  Finally a MAC description I agree with - 'amped-up fuschia' hits the nail on the head.  The amplified finish means it creamy and highly pigmented, but it doesn't slip around on the lips and leaves a pretty stain when it fades.

Rebel is described as a midtonal cream plum by MAC, but on my lips it's more of a pinky-purple berry shade.  It's perfect for the autumn months, and I rarely wore anything else this winter.  Although it applies completely different to how the bullet appears, it's still a really pretty shade that is ideal paired with a gold-bronze eye.

Ruby Woo is my go-to party lip.  It's a perfect blue-toned red.  The matte finish is of course a little bit drying, but it's nothing a good lip scrub and a dab of balm can't sort out.  I have nothing but love for this little black tube.

Costa Chic - Coral Bliss - Blankety - Giddy - Viva Glam Nicki - Chatterbox - Impassioned - Rebel - Ruby Woo

I'm really happy with my little collection, but there are a few more shades I'd like to get my hands on - a vampy deep red and a bright orange would complete my collection!  What are your favourite MAC shades?

Such a nice collection. I need to start my own Mac collection of lipsticks as I don't own any.
I own a couple of urban decay ones but I find that they don't stay put for long.
